Okayafrica's Top 10 Music Videos of 2013

Temi Dollface "Pata Pata." Directed by James Slater.

Temi Dollface brought fire to the Naija-pop video scene with her video for "Pata Pata." In the visually delicious and conceptually tight visuals, Temi plays a glamorous 1950s housewife-come-saleswoman who wants to show you how to cut the man-shaped-wahala out of your life. As she performs the kind of tough hyperfemininity slash wide-eyed goofiness that recalls Beyoncé as B.B. Homemaker (the highest compliment), Temi's character also breathes life into the generally ignored but fantastically glamorous black women pictured on sites like Black VintageVintageBlackGlamour  and Nigeria Nostalgia Project. Add to that the dancing, the retro fonts, creative graphics and pastel palette and you have one of the most well-crafted and creative videos of the year.
