A surprise EP from Uncle Waffles is always welcome.

The Swazi-born DJ and producer’s music and career have thrived on spontaneity, and it’s undoubtedly a fine move to see her build with a keen eye on those sensibilities. Coming off the back of a great year, which included collaborations with the likes of Joey Bada$ and fashion houses Louis Vuitton and Vetements, the 4 Da Ho’s project is an appreciation piece to her fanbase.

4 Da Ho’s personnelis quite seasoned. The EP comprises three tracks, featuring Royal MusiQ, Uncool MC and CowBoii, among other brilliant acts operating in the amapiano scene.

Following the tradition of her genre, the songs here have vivid percussion and purposefully dark energy, which wouldn’t surprise those who’ve tracked her evolution from Red Dragon to ASYLUM. Heavy on chants and voiceovers, this is the most homegrown sound Waffles has created recently.

It all ties back into the idea of giving and hearing the familiar lilt of the artists here; one can connect a straight line between the idea of home and its execution.
