South African superstar Tyla triumphed at the 2024 BET Awards. At the award ceremony dedicated to celebrating Black excellence in music and entertainment, Tyla not only secured the Best International Act award but also claimed victory as Best New Artist. Her wins came amidst fierce competition from notable nominees such as Ayra Starr, Asake and Sexxy Red.

Tyla stunned in a long, black, halter-neck dress with a thigh-high slit that flaunted her back. What made the dress truly stand out was its unexpected detail — a tiger print visible on the underside of its hem. Not only did this add some flair, but it’s also an interesting reference to her fans, referred to as “tigers.”

Tyla also delivered a stunning performance of “Jump” featuring Gunna and Skillibeng, marking her potential return to the stage after an undisclosed injury forced her to cancel her World Tour nearly four months ago. Excitement continues to build for her upcoming performances, following the release of her self-titled debut studio album. Fans across the globe are eagerly awaiting the chance to see her tour the world again.

During her acceptance speech for Best International Act, she expressed gratitude to her fans, family, and team. When accepting the award for Best New Artist, she dedicated it to the African superstars who paved the way before her. “I want to dedicate this one to all the African superstars before me, who didn’t get the opportunities I’m getting,” she said, radiating grace and glamor with a beaming smile. “It’s just amazing,” she continued. “Africa to the world, guys.”

Tyla is joined by Tems as the other African artiste who won an award at the event. The Nigerian singer and songwriter won the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award for her song "Me & U."
