South African comedian Trevor Noah will be hosting this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony, making it his fifth straight time serving as master of ceremonies for “music’s biggest night.” Noah first hosted the Grammys in 2021, an edition held when social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic was still in effect.

Last year wasarguably Noah’s best showing as the Grammys host, merging his ever-bubbly persona with jokes and quips that were genuinely chuckle-worthy. Not that his previous three stints weren’t alright, but his fourth time around was his most remarkable. Hopefully, that will carry over and possibly lead to another high mark.

Noah’s fifth time hosting ties him with iconic American rap artist and actor LL Cool J for the third most time hosting the Grammy, and it will leave him two editions away from tying American singer Andy Williams, who hosted the Grammys a record seven times.

Noah will be tasked with delicately MCing this year’s Grammys after thedevastating wildfires in Los Angeles. The Grammys decided to go on with its ceremonies, as Recording Academy President Harvey Mason Jr. has said thisyear’s event will “not only honor the artistry and achievements of our music community but also serve as a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defines this great City of Los Angeles.”

The Grammys will take place at the Crypto.com arena in LA on Sunday, February 2. Several African artists are nominated, with country-fusion breakout star Shaboozey and Nigerian singer Temsleading nominees across the continent.
