Major Lazer Remixes Stromae's 'Ave Cesaria'

Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire turn in a remix of Stromae's Cesária Évora tribute in "Ave Cesaria (Major Lazer Remix)"

Major Lazer Remixes Stromae's 'Ave Cesaria'

Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire have turned in a remix of Stromae's festive Cesária Évora tribute "Ave Cesaria." The Major Lazer crew take Stromae's ode to the late Cabo Verdean singer to the club dancefloor, placing the original vocal refrain over layers of rolling snares and warped synthesizers. The remix transfers Stromae's subtle percussive nods to Cabo Verdean morna and coladeria, genres popularized by the Barefoot Diva, into the modern electronic world. For more from Stromae, revisit his recent twitter addiction video for “Carmen,” Belgian world cup anthem “Ta Fête” and the second capsule collection of his clothing line MOSAERT. The Belgian-born, Rwandan-rooted pop artist will be embarking on an 8-date Tournée Africaine in May, which will see him playing shows in Senegal, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, the Republic of Congo, DRC, Gabon, and Rwanda.
