South African Rap Pioneer, ProKid, Has Died

ProKid, the celebrated South African rapper, passed away Thrusday morning after suffering from a seizure. He was 37 years-old.

"The legendary SA hip-hop artist affectionately known as ProKid, passed away on Wednesday," his family confirmed in a statement. "He suffered a severe seizure attack while visiting friends and paramedics were called in to assist. They did their best to revive him to no avail and called his time of death at 8.38pm."


Born Linda Mkhize, the award-winning artist was considered a pioneer of the South African hip hop scene. He produced several memorable hits during his career, including "Ghetto Science," Bhampa," and"Uthini Ngo Pro."

The rapper's untimely death has rocked music fans. Several fans, fellow musicians, and supporters have taken to social media to share tributes to the artist, and remember his influence on South African rap.
