The South African rapper, who was arrested yesterday, has officially been charged with the premeditated murder of his wife.

South African rapper Pitch Black Afro was arrested yesterday in connection with his wife's murder. While his identity was protected by police, it has been confirmed by Tshisa Live that the rapper appeared today at the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court and was charged with the premeditated murder of his wife as well as for "defeating the ends of justice." He remains behind bars.


The wife of Pitch Black Afro, Catherine "Trisha" Modisane, died on the December 21, 2018. While it was initially thought that natural causes were to blame, it was later confirmed by a pathologist that she had died as a result of injuries she had sustained. The rapper could not afford a lawyer of his own and thus asked the court to appoint him one. He will remain in custody until he has legal representation. The case has been postponed to January 15.
