Angolan Provocateur Nástio Mosquito's 'Se Eu Fosse Angolano'

Nástio-Mosquito-SE EU FOSSE-ANGOLANO

Two years after BS-free interview, Angolan performance artist/multi-media creator/writer and all around provocateur Nástio Mosquito is back on our radar with an otherworldly, yet grounded, 2-part LP. Sometimes easy listening, sometimes left-of-left-field, Se Eu Fosse Angolano conjures up comparisons to American/Chilean wonderboy Nicolas Jaar. However, whereas Jaar's multilingual universe looks to the future and other galaxies as his raison d'etre, Nástio's is grounded in an experimental conglomeration of past sounds and a search for identity.

On S.E.F.A. a voice undeniably filled with wisdom leads listeners on a sonic route that fuses Portishead-like electronica with accordions and classic romance novels, the result of which is a soundtrack suited for many sleepless nights. The remix album S.E.F.A. Fast Food adds further mind-messing to the experiment of Nástio's first offerings. Head here for downloads on downloads of Angolan goodness from Nástio. Se Eu Fosse Angolano and S.E.F.A. Fast Food are both out now.
