In a year marked by continental protests and uncertainty, here are some cultural breakthrough moments in sports, cinema, and music.

Budding Nigerian afro-pop artist Mr. Eazi drops the music video for his infectious summer smash "Bankulize." The melodic track features seamless production from the UK-based Ghanaian beatmaker DJ Juls and a rhythmic verse from Ghanaian MC Pappy Kojo. The 4-minute visual shows Mr. Eazi passionately belting out the lyrics of the emotive song, while DJ Juls and a pair of dancers grace the screen. Pappy Kojo joins in and smoothly delivers his verse as the camera moves to a young woman preparing, what looks like, pounded yam. The Prince Dovlo-produced video flawlessly captures the track's mellow vibe. Watch the video for "Bankulize" below.
