Performance costumes hang in Fela's bedroom perfectly preserved.

Last month, Fela's Kalakuta commune – a three-story building down a potholed road that "seceded" from Nigeria – was turned into a museum with the help of a $250,000 grant from the Lagos government and some serious toiling from his family and album cover artist Lemi Gharioukwu. While not officially opened to the public yet, we got a sneak peak. Check it:
