John Boyega Debuts His 'Pacific Rim' Character Ahead of the Film With New Comic Book

If you're like us, and can't wait for the upcoming sequel to Pacific Rim, we have some good news that might hold you over until then.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated film's release, staring John Boyega as Jake Pentecost, the starwill debut his character in an upcoming comic book, Pacific Rim: Aftermath, a prequel to the second film, which tells the story of what happened between the two films. The plot follows Jake as he searches for answers about the death of his father, Stacker Pentecost, played by Idris Elba. The comic takes place one year before Pacific Rim: Uprising, and nine years after the original, reports Konbini.

The comic series will consist of six issues. Boyega announced the news on Instagram on Monday, and shared a preview image image of his character, who the actor previously confirmed is of Nigerian descent.

Though initially set to be released on January 17, the comic will now drop on March 21, two days ahead of the Pacific Rim: Uprising. Revisit the film's trailer below!
