Idris Elba to Star In Netflix's Upcoming All-Black Western 'The Harder They Fall'

The film also stars Jonathan Majors and is being produced by Jay-Z.

Idris Elba to Star In Netflix's Upcoming All-Black Western 'The Harder They Fall'

Idris Elba is set to star in the upcoming all black Western The Harder They Fall from first-time director Jeymes Samuel.

The film, is slated to premiere on Netflix, and also stars The Last Black Man In San Fransisco actor,Jonathan Majors. The film is being produced by Samuel, as well as Jay-Z, who will also help write original music for the movie along with Samuel, Deadline reports. The two previously worked together on the Great Gatsby.


In the film, Elba plays a seemingly villainous role as an inmate who becomes the target of Major's character, following the news that he'll be released from prison. Here is a plot description via Deadline:

When outlaw Nat Love (Majors) discovers that the man (Elba) who killed his parents two decades ago is being released from prison, he reunites with his gang to track his enemy down and seek his revenge.

Elba has had a busy 2019. Earlier this year, he wrapped the upcoming film Concrete Cowboy, about black horse riding communities in Philadelphia, it also has a black Western theme. The actor and artist starred in Cats, Hobbs & Shaw and more, and his show In the Long Run, which was picked up by Starz.
