New Zealanders Fat Freddy’s Drop made their South Africa debut over the weekend. The two-city tour saw the Wellington seven-piece bring their “dub-reggae-soul-jazz-techno” mash-up first to Cape Town and then to Johannesburg as part of the Red Bull Music Academy Weekender alongside AKA, Manthe Ribane, Patoranking, Moonchild Sanelly, Christian Tiger School and more at 1 Fox in Newtown.
