2manysiblings are Bringing Their Nairobi Thrift Social to the UK

Nairobi’s coolest kids will assemble later this month for the latest instalment of 2manysiblings’ style, art and music event series. Thrift Social 6 goes down 26 June (12pm-7pm) at Privée Westlands. Tickets can be purchased here.

But before that happens, brother and sister Papa Petit and Velma Rossa are packing their bags and heading to the UK for part one of their special two-city edition of this month's Thrift Social.

Thrift Social makes its overseas debut this Thursday, 16 June (7-10pm), in conjunction with the Fashion Cities Africa exhibition at the Brighton Museum. Attendees are encouraged to bring unwanted clothes and accessories to style, swap, shop and upcycle. Fashion Cities Africa, which opened in April and runs through January 2017, explores the style of four metropoles on the continent: Casablanca, Lagos, Nairobi and Johannesburg. Tickets to the Brighton Thrift Social can be purchased here.

Kenyan brother and sister Papa Petit and Velma Rossa launched the Thrift Social event series last year as a platform to promote young creative entrepreneurs while encouraging their peers to give back to the local community. In addition to shopping with some of the flyest vendors in Nairobi, attendees are encouraged to bring clothes and shoes to be donated to the Jacaranda School for the mentally handicapped.
