Cashtime Life Double Shot: Ma-E's 'uGOGO' + KiD X's 'Pass n Special'

Right after the unrivalled coup of K.O.’s KiD X-assisted single “Caracara” (which opened up Spoek Mathambo's Cava The Combo SA rap mix), South African hip-hop collective Cashtime Life (K.O, Ma-E, Ntukza, AB Crazy, Kid X, Smashis) unleashes more hit single prospects. KiD X’s “Pass n Special” and Ma-E’s “uGOGO” have recently been treated with visuals on the same day. Both songs pay homage to old school kwaito songs just like “Caracara” did. Ma-E’s video takes the “when the cat is away, the mice will play” route. The song's hook and video concept were both lifted off Mzekezeke’s “Akekh’ ugogo,” making reference to turning up while ugogo (granny) is away. Ma-E invites a legion of friends to party up while his mother is out. When she returns, she joins in on the fun. KiD X’s “Pass n Special,” which gives a node to kwaito legend Mdu’s “No Pass, No Special,” is also one for the good times. Kicking lazy flows over a minimalistic woozy backdrop, KiD X passes time with his boys and girls under the lukewarm Joburg autumn sun. Watch both videos below and look out for cameos from the likes of Ms Cosmo, Maggz, K.O., Slikour, and Riky Rick (among others). Cashtime, tsotsi for life!
