Asheru's 'Sleepless In Soweto' LP

D.C.-based MC Asheru, who you might know as the man behind the Boondocks theme song, comes through with Sleepless In Soweto — a collection of tracks influenced by and recorded during Asheru's travels between D.C. and South Africa. The 13-track 'pan-African hip-hop' LP cycles through some solid live instrumentation beats that pull from afrobeat and South African house music. The Jo'burg-inspired album standout "Gauteng" features Raheem DeVaughn, while additional songs enlist help from Wayna (who coincidently just gave us a City Guide to D.C.) and SA's HHP.
