Musician and producer,Ziggy Marley is teaming up with Paramount Pictures, to bring a major story to the big screen.
He's working to develop a biopic based on his father, the late reggae legend, Bob Marley's life, reports Deadline.
The movie will likely highlight Marley's upbringing, documenting his life as a bi-racial child growing up in 1950s Jamaica, and the discrimination he faced before going on to become reggae music's foremost ambassador and a celebrated pop culture icon.
Ziggy Marley has worked on several projects celebrating his father's legacy in the past, including Bob Marley & The Wailers: Easy Skanking in Boston '78. He also executive produced the documentaries Bob Marley Legend Remixed and Marley Africa Roadtrip. OkayAfrica spoke with the musician last yearas he was preparing for the reissue of his father's seminal album Exodus.
Details on the biopic remain scarce, but it may turn out to be on of Ziggy's biggest undertakings yet, and we are wholly anticipating the outcome. A thoroughgoing film on Marley's life is long overdue, and with his son at the helm, we can expect for it to be meaningful and authentic.
