Listen to Wizkid's Cover of Bob Marley's "One Love"
Wizkid and Bloody Civilian are the only Africans in the soundtrack to the upcoming Bob Marley biopic, they cover two of the Jamaican legend's songs, “One Love” and “Natural Mystic.”
Nigerian singer/songwriter Wizkid delivers a beautiful rendition of Jamaica’s legendary musician, Bob Marley’s “One Love,” which floats on the song's soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics.
The cover, released February 14, is part of the soundtrack EP for the Reinaldo Marcus Green-directed biopic Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired by the Film).
The EP also features fellow Nigerian singer/songwriter Bloody Civilian who performed a cover of Marley’s “Natural Mystic,” serving as a powerful addition to her growing discography.
Wizkid and Bloody Civilian’s covers exist alongside similar revivals by Marley’s grandson Skip Marley, American singers Daniel Caesar, Leon Bridges, and Kacey Musgraves, as well as Canadian singer Jessie Reyez.
The soundtrackfeatures a number of fresh takes on the notorious body of work produced by Bob Marley and his cohort The Wailers. So far, fans had earlier gotten previews of what the entire project will sound like via Musgraves’ emotional rendition of the hit single “Three Little Birds”, and Caesar’s R&B reimaging of “Waiting In Vain”, which was released today.
Bob Marley: One Love follows the Jamaican star’s journey as he returns to his home country in 1978 for the One Love Peace Concert, following an assassination attempt on him two years prior.
