Watch the Trailer of the New South African Netflix Series, 'Shadow'
The new South African series, filmed in the heart of Johannesburg, stars Pallance Dladla and Amanda du-Pont.
Netflix, the global streaming giant, is staying true its promise of producing more Afrocentric content in their pursuit of international growth. Their latest series, Shadow, is a South African production and follows shortly after their first ever South African series, Queen Sono, starring Pearl Thusi.
Shadow follows the story of a police detective and former taskforce specialist , Shadrach 'Shadow' Khumalo who, after a young girl is brutally murdered, embarks on bringing justice in what sounds a little reminiscent of Denzel Washington in The Equalizer. With the help of his former partner, Shadow throws the underworld of Johannesburg into chaos as he attempts to fix what was broken. What is particularly curious about Shadow, however, is his inability to feel physical pain after he was struck by lightening one night as a child.
The series promises to be action-packed and loaded with phenomenally choreographed fight scenes between Shadow and the villains of the underworld. Throw in a few tender scenes with his lover Ashley, and this promises to be a one-of-a-kind production by Netflix. Pallance Dladla plays the role of Shadow whilst Amanda du-Pont plays the role of Ashley, Shadow's former partner and current love interest.
