Take a first look at the upcoming romantic drama from 'Insecure' director Melina Matsoukas.
In July of last year, it was announced that Oscar-nominated actor Daniel Kaluuya and rising actress Jodie Turner-Smith would star in the romantic drama Queen Slim from Insecure director, Melina Matsoukas. The trailer for the highly-anticipated film has arrived, premiering at last night's BET Awards.
Kaluuya and Turner-Smith play a couple on the run after a fatal run-in with a police officer in the Bonnie and Clyde-inspired romantic crime drama.

The film is Matsoukas'—who has directed music videos for the likes of Beyoncé, Solange, Rihanna and more—directorial debut. It's being produced by Matsoukas along with Lena Waithe, and James Frey who created the film's original treatment.

While on a forgettable first date together in Ohio, a Black man and a Black woman, are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. The situation escalates, with sudden and tragic results, when the man kills the police officer in self-defense. Terrified and in fear for their lives, the man, a retail employee, and the woman, a criminal defense lawyer, are forced to go on the run. But the incident is captured on video and goes viral, and the couple unwittingly become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief and pain for people across the country As they drive, these two unlikely fugitives will discover themselves and each other in the most dire and desperate of circumstances, and will forge a deep and powerful love that will reveal their shared humanity and shape the rest of their live.
The film, which is set for release by Universal Pictures on November 27, also stars Chloe Sevigny, Indya Moore, andBokeem Woodbine.
