While most know him as one of the leaders of Nigeria's growing alté scene, Santi has also proven himself a talented music video director, having directed several of his own music videos, including "Freaky" and "Rapid Fire" as well as Odunsi's "Alté Cruise."
Now, the artist is directing the music video for Goldlink's single "U Say," from his latest album Diaspora. It's truly a "diaspora" affair, as the song is produced by British-Ghanaian producer Juls, and also features Tyler the Creator and Jay Prince.
Goldlink shared an image on Twitter of a clapperboard that listed Santi's name under director over the weekend, hinting that the video would be coming out soon. Santi shared the same picture, calling it a "historic moment."
They're not the only ones celebrating Santi's artistic feat, either. Frequent collaborator and fellow alté star Odunsi, shared an image of Goldlink, Santi and Tyler together, writing "ah. man i'm actually shedding tears. real alté tears."
This isn't the first time that Goldlink and Santi have teamed up. Santi released his much-anticipated debut album Mandy & the Jungle last year, and Goldlink appears on the track "Maria."
Goldlink's Diaspora, features several artists from the continent, including Maleek Berry on the standout Zulu as well as Wizkid on the track "No Lie". With his many collaborations, the artist is staying true to the album's theme of highlighting connections between artists from across the diaspora.
With Santi spearheading, we're excited to see the finished product. We'll keep you posted for when the video drops. For now listen to "U Say" below.
