The achievement further cements her status as the highest-charting African female solo artist on these prestigious charts.
After peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Water," the musician has struck gold again with "PUSH 2 START," one of several new tracks featured on the deluxe edition of her self-titled debut album.
In October 1967, Makeba became the first African woman musician to enter the Billboard Hot 100 with"Pata Pata," one of her most iconic songs, which peaked at No. 12. Then, just three months later, she entered the chart again, this time with"Malayisha,"which peaked at No. 85.Tyla's latest chart entry with "PUSH 2 START" reinforces her growing reputation as a global powerhouse. Her star quality shines brightest during live performances, where she captivates audiences with her distinctive style and dynamic choreography, proving she's more than just a chart success.
On Saturday, Jan. 18, Tyla put up another electrifying show at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa. Dubbing it her favorite show yet, Tyla performed as the concert was livestreamed by Showmax to 44 African countries.
