Tunde Olaniran 'Brown Boy' Remix EP
Tunde Olaniran's 'Brown Boy' Remix EP features reworks by Killing Time, Ancient Language, Jon Zott, and Revoir.
Avant-garde pop experimentalist Tunde Olaniran has returned with a remix EP featuring the reworked stylings of Detroit area friends for "Brown Boy." The original allows the Michigan-based/Nigerian-American singer to show off his dexterity as he jumps between Kelis-esque vocals and a Cool Kids "Mickey Rocks" recalling 808 rap beat. Remixes from Jon Zott and Detroit's "Future Soul Beats" maker Ancient Language give the original self-definition anthem a new lease of life. Revoir inject the track with a dose of pop-synth energy whilst Killing Time's dance beat warps "Brown Boy" into a modern vogueing soundtrack. Even when slipped into different outfits, Tunde's playful yet important lyrics sing through: "I'm every single thing you think of me, I'm a sinner, killer, drug dealer refugee." Watch out for Tunde's Yung Archetype EP (due out February 25th via Quite Scientific). In the meantime, stream the full Brown Boy Remix EP below.
