Trevor Noah Has South Africans Beaming With His NAACP Nominations
The Daily Show has received four nominations and South Africans could not be prouder.
South African comedian and host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah, has South Africans beaming with pride following his show's four-time nomination at the prestigious NAACP Image Awards.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a civil rights organisation whose primary mission is to secure the political, social, educational and economic equality of people of color. This year, it hosts its 50th award ceremony with a spectacular list of nominees including Noah.
Noah took to social media to express his excitement over the nominations in addition to "thanking everyone who's been a part of the journey."
The four nominations are in the categories of Outstanding Talk Series, Outstanding Variety Show, Outstanding Host in a Talk Show/Series and Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.
Since his move to America in 2015 to take over as host of The Daily Show from Jon Stewart, Noah has been on a winning streak and South Africans are here for all his wins.
He wrote and published the bestseller Born a Crime which speaks to having been conceived by interracial parents during Apartheid. The book was even reviewed by Bill Gates himself. Noah went on to win his first Emmy last year for his YouTube comedy special The Daily Show: Between the Scenes. One of his latest comedy sets Son of Patricia is currently being featured on Netflix.
South Africans took to Twitter to congratulate him.
