The Boldness of Ghana's Fante People Encompass TawiaDesigns' SS/17 Collection
Ghanaian-American shoe brand TawiaDesigns recently launched their SS/17 collection that embodies the art and boldness of the Fante people. Handcrafted by local artisans in Morocco and Ghana, each shoe is designed to fit any occasion.
While this line gives us the usual laid back, comfortable, yet original vibes, Fante SS/17 is distinct from past collections for the brand.
"I really wanted to do something different from my previous collections," Emmanuel Tawia, creative director of TawiaDesigns, says to OkayAfrica via email. "Working with artisans on this collection was really my highlight. For them to be able to learn new techniques and come up with my ideas really pushes me to keep creating not only with the shoes but also for the fact that I am employing locals within Africa with sustainable jobs."
