Watch Stiff Pap’s Music Video for ‘Mkokotelo’
Stiff Pap shares a new music video.
Stiff Paprecently shared a music video for their single "Mkokotelo." The song is from the South African hip-hop duo's latest EP Stiff Pap Radio.
"Mkokotelo," one of the strongest songs on the project, blends the duo's influences from kwaito to electronic music using hip-hop as base.
The song's video was directed by Evan Wigdorowitz, and shows the crew in Adidas tracksuits performing on a spinning Gusheshe.
"'Mkokotelo' is a word which basically refers to making something out of nothing," the duo told Afropunk last week. "We wanted to create a visual representation of that, from the cover art right through to the music video. We take influence from our environment, and the various pieces we gain along the way are what made us."
Stiff Pap Radio was released in August. The only feature on the project's five songs is Cape Town-based rapper SimmySimmyNya who appeared on the song "Maradona."
An extended version of the EP, spanning eight tracks, was released in September and came with three remixes by Jumping Back Slash and Okzharp.
