Stars Of 'Rattle Snake' Sequel Announced Today
The Ramsey-Nouah directed remake of the Nollywood classic crime-thriller will feature Osas Ighodaro, Stan Nze, Efe Iwara, and several others.
If you didn't know, Nollywood has been making crime-thrillers and dramas since the mid-90's like the early 2000's classics Girl's Cot, Abuja Top Ladies and, of course, Rattle Snake. If you do know, then you should be excited about the remake of "Rattle Snake" returning for a sequel as "Rattle Snake: The Armadas"
Following the whopping success of 2019's 'Living in Bondage: Breaking Free' and the announcement of a few other Nollywood classics in the works, Play Network Studios, led by producer Charles Okpaleke, has released the official poster for the upcoming sequel, revealing the stars of the film.
In March, news of the remake was officially made public via an Instagram post, where Okpaleke hinted at the film's release in November, which many of us have been looking forward to seeing considering the brilliant rendition of "Living In Bondage." And although the coronavirus pandemic has significantly slowed down the pace of film productions amongst several other logistics, it looks like 'Rattle Snake' the remake is still right on schedule and might be coming to us sooner than later.
"Rattle Snake: The Armadas" is the sequel to the 1995 Nollywood crime-thriller "Rattle Snake" that revolved around a true-life story of Ahanna who was roped into a life of crime after going through hardship and was thrown into a dilemma between pursuing his love interest or continuing on his path of crime. The film which was well received at the time of its release and kick-started Nollywood's (often melodramatic) crime-thriller genres, and starred iconic Nollywood actors like Francis Duru, Nkem Owoh, Okeckuw Igwe, Ernest Obi, Ejike Methuselah and Julius Agwu.
The remake, directed by Ramsey Nouah who also brought us the remake of 1992 drama thriller 'Living In Bondage', now features some of the leading faces of the new Nollywood industry in roles that are yet to be confirmed. From established actors like Osas Ighodaro, Stan Nze, Efe Iwara, to emerging acts like MTV Shuga's Emeka Nwagbaraocha.
Nigerians took to Twitter to express how they felt over the upcoming film.
Some were excited, naturally:
Others are eager about the film's release date:
This remake is an emerging trend popular amongst Nollywood movie lovers and championed by Ramsey Nouah and Charles Opaleke, who has also obtained rights to two other Nollywood classics 'Nneka The Pretty Serpent' and 'Glamour Girls.' This trend has been predicted to revolutionize the way Nollywood tells stories; combining the heavy themes of old movies through contemporary lenses and sophisticated productions.
Although the release dates are yet to be announced, we are hyped to see what magic Charles and Ramsey creates with captivating story.
