South African Rapper AKA Won the Nickelodean Kids' Choice Award

AKA (or should we rather say King Forbes?) scooped up the Nickelodean Kids Choice Award on Sunday at the glamorous ceremony held in Los Angeles. He's since taken to social media to thank his fans, fellow rapper Kwesta and especially his daughter, Kairo, for their unwavering support.

The "Fela in Versace" star beat the likes of TV personalities Nomzamo Mbatha and Somizi, cricket superstar Kagiso Rabada and South African Springbok rugby captain, Siya Kolisi, for the coveted prize in the category of Favorite South African Star.

In his acceptance speech, AKA said:

"I also want to dedicate this award to my brother Kwesta and his wife who got married this past weekend. I couldn't attend because I had to be here in LA. God bless the Vilakazis and cheers to many happy years of more life."

As per Nickelodean tradition, the rapper was slimed as he picked up his award.

AKA's nomination for the award was announced earlier this year and his daughter Kairo, was on a mission to ensure the rapper got as many votes as he possibly could.

Although Kairo could not attend the ceremony because of visa issues, she sent her favorite doll in her place instead. Fans have been congratulating AKA on social media ever since he announced his win.
