South African Instrumental Bliss From Bateleur
A Bigleap Session from Cape Town's Bateleur playing two originals of South African instrumental perfection.
Our friends Christian Tiger School first tipped us off to fellow South African instrumental group Bateleur by closing out their psychedelic/dream hip-hop Earbuds mixtape with the band's epic, altered-state single "Thanks, India." Since then, we've wondered does the Mother City have its very own Sigur Ros in the dudes from Bateleur? Their latest recording has us dreaming sweeter thoughts than usual. In a recent Bigleap Session, Bateleur play two originals ("Mendota Sky" and "Acidust") and a cover of Seal's oft-butchered "Kiss From a Rose." Watch the in-house subconscious session below and then catch up on the mind melting "Thanks, India." Shouts to our friends Christian Tiger School for the intro, who can be seen in this Bigleap vid performing a cover of Kendrick Lamar.
