Watch M.anifest Salute The Everday Hustle in 'Someway Bi'
Talented Ghanaian MC, M.anifest releases a new video for single "Someway Bi" off 2013's Apae: The Price Of Free EP
The last time we saw Ghanaian rapperM.anifest he was getting buck in South Africa with Hip Hop Pantsula while preparing to join Blur/Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn on a month-long European tour. For his latest video, the talented MC heads back home to deliver the documentary style visuals for "Someway Bi," a pulsing highlife track off last year's stellar Apae: The Price of Free EP.
Taking its name from the popular Ghanaian catchphrase "someway bi," which is most often used as a succinct response to "the daily frustrations, inexplicable occurrences, immeasurable joys, [and] simple pleasures of urban African life," the single gets a stunning cinéma verité inspired treatment from director Post No Bill. In the video, we are offered glimpses into the everyday hustles of a cast of characters from all walks of life while M.anifest's lyrical flow bears witness to the gratifications and gripes associated with life in Ghana's bustling metropolises.
The Yung Fly-produced track serves as a reminder that one can lament the blues of our 21st century existence while looking forward to the good times ahead, and M-dot makes a brief cameo at the end of the clip to take one last shot before stepping out into the unknown future.
