Solange is Saturday Night Live’s Next Musical Guest
Solange is bringing ‘A Seat at the Table’ to Saturday Night Live.
It’s safe to say a lot of people have listened to—and purchased—A Seat at the Table. Well, a whole lot more people are about to get acquainted with Solange and her third studio album.
The singer is headed to Saturday Night Live two Saturdays from now. As the musical guest on the November 5th episode, she'll perform two songs off the album. Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch will host.
The episode marks Solange's first SNL appearance. Perhaps it will be Sampha's SNL debut too?
Her follow-up to 2012’s True EP, Solange’s 21-track A Seat at the Table features collaborations with Lil Wayne, Sampha, Blood Orange, Tweet, Moses Sumney, Q-Tip, The Dream, Kelly Rowland, Kelela, Sean Nicholas Savage and more. Accompanying the album, the singer released a digital book of lyrics and photos taken by Barcelona-based photographer Carlota Guerrero.
A Seat at the Table sold 72,000 equivalent album units in its first week to take the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart and make a bit of history in the process—Solange and Beyoncé are now the first and only solo artist sisters to score No. 1 albums in the same year.
