Sister Deborah Delivers The Ultimate 'Ghana Jollof' Anthem

As you may already know a #JollofWar has been raging between Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, which has spilled over into the Twittersphere.

And Senegalese chef Pierre Thiam added his two cents last week, saying his home country, “the originator of jollof” makes it best.

But e.TV Ghana presenter and fashionista Sister Deborah has penned the anthem “Ghana Jollof” that might settle the score once and for all.

The singer—sister to Wanlov the Kubolor, one-half of Ghanaian rap powerhouse FOKN Bois who also co-wrote the track—spits punchy lyrics revealing the secret to her bangin’ jollof is skipping the Maggi cube (but wait, isn’t that an essential?). She favors cracked chicken bones instead.

Best known for her viral hitter “Uncle Obama” from several years ago, Sister Deborah doesn’t disappoint with lines like “Ghana Jollof on fleek, yours isn’t” and it “brings boys to the yard,” especially Naija ones.

The infectious but somewhat repetitive hook “Ghana jollof yummy,” delivered over a minimalist hip-hop beat produced by Kuvie, delivers one key lesson: “learn how to cook.”
