SEUN ADIGUN
OkayAfrica's 100 Women celebrates African women who are making waves, shattering ceilings, and uplifting their communities.
If you haven’t already heard, Nigeria has a bobsledding team which will include Seun Adigun, Akuoma Omeoga and Ngozi Onwumere. The three women squad made history as Africa’s first bobsled team - Adigun in particular is a three-time 100 meter hurdle Nigerian National Champion, and a former Team USA bobsled break woman.
The high-achiever is committed to reaching new heights, and is forming an African association so other nations on the continent can take part in the winter sport. That is not all, she and her teammates have had practice putting together a bobsled, so they could “understand the concepts and the mechanics that come with being a bobsled athlete.”
Adigun is taking Naija brilliance to another level. The athlete is preparing for the 2018 winter Olympics in South Korea, and is every inch a leader and champion for doing what no one else expected her to do.
