Kenyan Afro-Pop group Sauti Sol has just signed a major recoding deal with Universal Music Africa, a division of the Universal Music Group.

The deal comes just as the group is preparing to drop their fifth studio album "Midnight Train" following their successful 2019 album "Afrikan Sauce" which had standout collaborations with Patoranking, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Jah Prayzah and several other African talents.

Sauti Sol recently took to social media to announce the news and thank fans for their support and patience with their upcoming album.

The group members had a number of things to say individually about the opportunity and their new beginnings with Bien Aime Baraza saying, "Love new beginnings. I have waited for this day for all my life..." while Chimano said that, "Always wanted and wondered what it would feel like to be signed to a major! Well It's official! Our first major label deal." Polycarp Otieno simply added, "New dawn. New beginning. We can't wait to share our new music with you."

Sipho Dlamini, the Managing Director of Universal Music Group South Africa & Sub-Saharan Africa, commented on signing Sauti Sol saying, "We are delighted to announce our partnership with Sauti Sol, one of the most innovative and creative groups to have broken through from Africa in recent years."

Following a spectacular run last year that saw the group performing on massive stages including the 2019 AFRIMA Awards and Essence Festival alongside the likes of Davido, Nasty C, 2Baba and several other music heavyweights, "Midnight Train" is a project laden with even higher expectations from fans with regards to the group's ability to push the genre forward.
