Patoranking Drops an Amazing Video For ‘Open Fire’
The Nigerian star treats the world to the reality-bending visuals for the upbeat track.
The Nigerian fusion artist has hit us yet again with arrestingly stunning visuals to accompany his emphatic, bombastic and infectious music. Last week, the talented Patoranking gifted the world with the video for the track "Open Fire" featuring Busiswaand we somehow didn't see it until today. Believe us, it is a classic case of "better late than never."
"Open Fire" is a song produced by Boris Vossgatter and Monareng Makwetla off the superstar's second album, Wilmer, named after his daughter—who he calls his greatest emotional achievement—which came out in May of this year. Patoranking has always pushed the bar when it comes to the visual accompaniment of his work but the video for "Open Fire' is next level. Shot and directed by Simon Coleman of Cape Town's Giant Films, the video sees everyday sights on African city streets and transforms them into magical realism. When watching there is no denying that Stylist Bee Diamondhead certainly has talent and an immense amount of creativity.
The video complements the energy in the song. Unexpected twists and turns and a feeling of carnival all punctuate the video in the same manner as the crisp percussion and melodic string instruments. Patoranking delivers rapid fire lyrics that pay homage to the song's title and South African lyrical Queen Busiswa comes in with a verse (and mini parade in the video) that showcases just how much originality her sound contains. Check the video below, put it on repeat.
