Old Money's 'Mothership' EP + Chief Boima & DJ Spoko Remixes
New York duo Old Money just dropped their debut EP for DJ/Rupture and Matt Shadetek's Dutty Artz label. The 4-track release is lead by "Mothership," a track that showcases Old Money's blend of kwaito/kuduro rhythms, East Coast rhymes and UK funky sounds. As the label writes, the metaphorical mothership is a "place where an enlightened creative community nurtures its brightest future stars... a vessel [that] has been at the cornerstone of American Black Liberationist movements since their stirrings at the beginning of the 20th Century – from Marcus Garvey’s Black Star Liner to Elijah Muhammad and Sun Ra." Old Money's Mothership EP also features the bouncing "Gargon" and remixes from global bass head Chief Boima and South Africa's DJ Spoko. Stream it below and buy it on Bandcamp / iTunes / Amazon/ Boomkat.
