Odunsi Throws a Flashy Nigerian Party In the Video for 'Star Signs,' Featuring Runtown
The video pays homage to the Yoruba party culture of the late '80s and early '90s.
Odunsi shares the highly-anticipated music video for his single, "Star Signs," a standout from his 2018 debut album rare.
The alté mainstay pays homage to Nigeria's late '80s and early '90s party culture, which was all about fun, fashion and flashiness. Odunsi takes on a glittering, King Sunny Ade-esque persona as he leads a party full of people dressed in traditional Yoruba garb. Each table at the function is arranged according to a zodiac sign.
The vintage themed video, directed by Candles, features several cameos, including one from frequent collaborator Santi.
The artist shared stunning teaser photos from the video on his Twitter ahead of the video's release.
"I went to some of the Owambes' (Parties) as a kid and once I started to enter my teen years, I didn't go to many of them but I lived off the memories of the ones I went to as a child," said the musician in a statement, discussing his love for Yoruba festivity's. "The video is from the more classic era; the late 80s early 90s and shows how we love to dress up and do the most and also shows the live music being played at these parties, money being sprayed and people dancing."
The artist released the music video for "Tipsy" back in February. Watch the video for 'Star Signs" below.
