Niniola Brings Africa To The World With New Album 'Colours and Sounds'
The songstress is joined by heavyweights Timbaland, Afro B and Femi Kuti on her tour of Africa's dance sounds.
Nigerian Queen of Afro-House Niniola is back with a bang and a new album titled, "Colours and Sounds".
With this being only her second album release, Niniola is surely set out to take over the world. And with endorsements from the likes of legendary American singer Beyoncé and rap superstar Drake, she is sure to succeed. And while the international hype is welcomed, it's clear to see that the Nigerian powerhouse is here to show off the multitude of talent and beauty that Africa and it's music scene has to offer.
The album, co-produced by musical genius Timbaland, Sarz ( a long time contributor of Niniola's), Nigerian beatmakers Kel-P and Nonso Amadi, Jamaica's Teflon Zincfence and Shuffle Muzik, hailing from South Africa, features too many big names to focus. With Ninola's combining of the essence of South Africa's Amapiano, Jamaican dancehall, and of course, traditional afro-beat elements, it's not surprising to understand why or how.
Collaborations include Nigerian icon Femi Kute, South Africa's qgom queen Busiswa, Kenyan quarted Sauti Sol, and so many more.
With so many cooks in the kitchen, one might think that an artists' voice may get lost among them, but Niniola stands strong and true to herself and voice. Of the album she says, "My music is colourful, and vibrant -- it's travelled across borders and it's being played by different ethnicities, whether Black or white. Even though my root genre is Afro-House, I can do it all -- R&B, pop, folk. I am a [woman] of many Colours and Sounds."
