Nigerian Teen Gets Accepted Into All 8 Ivy League Schools
Ifeoma White-Thorpe joins an elite group of students who've been accepted into all eight Ivy League Institutions.
Today in Black excellence news:
New Jersey teen, Ifeoma White-Thorpe, is the latest star scholar to gain admission into all eight Ivy League institutions: Harvard, Cornell, Yale, Princeton, Colombia, Brown, University of Pennsylvania and Dartmouth College.
"I was like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, like this might be eight out of eight and I clicked it and it said 'Congratulations' and I was like oh my goodness," said the teen upon receiving the news. "So many of them had great research facilities, so I figured, I might as well shoot my shot."
Well, it certainly paid off.
White-Thorpe, who is student body president at her high school, plans to study biology and purse a degree in global health, reports CNN.
She joins an elite group of first-generation African students who've accomplished this feat. Last year, New York teen Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna was also accepted eight out of eight, Harold Ekehwasin 2015, and Ghanaian-American teen Kwasi Enin the year before then.
Ifeoma spoke with ABC News yesterday about her momentous achievement, watch the clip below.
