The Head-Turning Looks From African Celebrities at Met Gala 2024
From Tyla and Aya Nakamura to Cynthia Erivo and Wisdom Kaye, African celebrities clearly understood the assignment at this year’s Met Gala.
As is customary, last night’s Met Gala red carpet delivered a slew of memorable celebrity fashion looks. Themed “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” this edition’s dress code was announced as “The Garden of Time,” in celebration of clothing and fashion so fragile that it can never be worn again.
Amidst the iconic looks of the night, African celebrities clearly understood the assignment, pulling up in indelible fashion choices. South African Grammy-winning singer Tyla came in an enchanting Balmain gown, along with some royal treatment for apt embellishment. British Ghanaian model Adwo Aboah wore a red custom H&M two-piece, while announcing her pregnancy.
From Ayo Edebiri’s floral patterned Loewe gown, to Wisdom Kaye’s stunning ensemble and Cynthia Erivo’s petal-flecked Thom Browne tux, below are some of the head-turning looks from Africans at the Met Gala.
