Lupita Nyong'o Set to Star Alongside Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz and More In Espionage Thriller '355'
The film's all-female cast is unbeatable.
Lupita Nyong'o is not taking any breaks.
Just yesterday, it was announced that the actress had been tapped to play the assassin in an upcoming remake of John Woo's "The Killer," and today it's been announced that the Oscar-winner will star in the spy thriller "355" alongside Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Fan Bingbing,Deadline reports.
"Some of my greatest experiences are being part of an ensemble, both on stage as well as in films," said Chastain, who came up with the idea for the film. "I see creating something like '355' as an opportunity and privilege to assemble a diverse group of women, all of whom have greatly influenced the film industry through their work, to join together equally and explore the badass world of international espionage and thrillers."
The ensemble film, is headed to Cannes and there are talks of it becoming a franchise, but Chastain says it'll be unlike many of the ones we've seen before.
"It won't be as hyperbolic as some franchises, and unlike the other films that revolve around one main character, the goal here is the true ensemble, all these characters who have their own distinct traits, histories — fully formed and complex characters with equal weight in the film," she added.
Here's a plot summary via Deadline:
The film involves these top agents from organizations around the world uniting to stop a global organization from acquiring a weapon that could plunge an already unstable world into total chaos. They have to overcome cultural and political differences to form a bond and work together.
As always, we look forward to seeing Lupita on our screens, and in a spy sisterhood film no less.
