During the interview with host Jimmy Fallon, the Us actor also spoke about her reaction to becoming a Beyoncé lyric, (the singer mentions her on the Wizkid-assisted Brown Skin Girl), and also being mentioned in a Jay-Z song. "I love the Carters and they seem to love me. I'm not mad," says Nyong'o.

"It's a mirror for dark skin girls to see themselves," says Nyong'o of the book. "Specifically because I didn't have that growing up, and I wanted to use the pain that I felt [as] my weapon, my gift." Watch her speak about the book, as well as her latest film Little Monsters below.
