Hear An 'Acid Kuduro' Mixtape From LCD Soundsystem's Tyler Pope
Hear a high-energy blend of Angolan kuduro and acid house in Tyler Pope's new mix for OkayAfrica.
Tyler Pope, a member of the seminal dance-punk group LCD Soundsystem, is plugged into all types of dance floor rhythms.
Through his label, Interference Pattern, he's recently put out a 2-track experimental dancehall-dub release.
He's also previously mashed together a wide array of global beats in mixes like BAILEWAVE.
In his own DJ sets, Pope likes to blend Angolan kuduro with acid house, a high-energy combination that'll have you jumping out of your seat.
He's now made OkayAfrica a 42-minute Acid Kuduro mixtape, which we're premiering above today.
"This is a mix of some older Kuduro tracks mixed with some classic Acid house that I find really inspiring," Pope tells OkayAfrica. "The energy and the lo-fi drum sounds give the tracks a kind of punk rock feeling. I also am always looking for interesting rhythms that move the dance floor and these tracks do that for me."
