LaQuan Smith is a young and talented African American fashion designer. He's the founder and CEO of his eponymous women's clothing brand LaQuan Smith, which is based in Queens, NY. Smith has been making clothes since he got a sewing machine for Christmas when he was 13. Since then, he has been creating fantastic custom pieces for an array of celebrities, pop culture icons and artists including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Tyra Banks, Sessilee Lopez and fashion personality Andre J., among many others.
His collection has a futuristic and colorful look (gold, electric blue, green, yellow...) featuring structured shapes. High-waisted skirts and panties, dresses made with a mix of materials - pvc and gold pieces - give a holographic effect and elongate the body's silhouette. All pictures by Nicolas Romain.
