Kwabs 'Last Stand'
Listen to Kwabs 'Last Stand,' the latest single from the Ghanaian/UK-based crooner.
It was almost a year ago that we suggested eyes be kept on Ghanaian-born/UK-based student of jazz Kwabs (full name Kwabena Sarkodee Adjepong). Kwabs' coming-of-age has no doubt coincided with a renaissance moment in the story of left-of-center R&B, whose holy book may just become Solange's recently unveiled dream comp. The latest from the gospel-strenghted crooner is a new pillar in this rise of urban alternative. "Last Stand" is a 'stop dead in your tracks' level of foreboding synth (think "Wilhelm Scream," which, coincidentally, received cover treatment from Kwabs). Call us out for this one, but does anyone else notice something of a similar progression as "Careless Whisper?" Cheeseball familiarities aside, as these cold days dawn the Sohn-produced battle with demons is going to be a most excellent slice of comfort. Listen to the soul protecting joint below.
