In the joyous new video for his song "Burkin Bâ," Burkinabé rapper Joey Le Soldat looks at the camera with a mix of kingly ferocity and childlike jubilee that beams off the screen. In the official visuals for the title track off Soldat's socially-conscious second album Burkin BâLP, directors Oncle Léon & San Remy depict Soldat dancing to drum thuds and electronic whirs along with a group of smiling boys and head-bobbing men. The deep-voiced emcee is clearly the leader of his crew but he makes himself a part of it, joining in the loose revelry while he raps, "all children of the same country. Let us rise, let us fight to build our homeland." Joey Le Soldat's Burkin Bâ LP is out now on Akwaaba/Tentacule Records. Check the video out below.
