SA Experimental Beatmaker IIndman's 'La Bella Vita' EP
South African electronic musician IIndman shares his experimental new EP, the melancholic 6-track 'La Bella Vita.'
Mafikeng electronic musician IIndman's 6-track La Bella Vita EP is a crumbling tunnel of drum whips, muffled vocals, and scraped effects. Starting with the slow, key-floored title track and moving onto the choppy, percussion-based "Lemonade," the self-produced release only sees dim light with the fifth track "Never Let You Down," a grand composition of strings that begins with a deep-voiced birthday wish. The 22-year-old experimental beatmaker, who notes Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus and J Dilla as influences, ends his record with "BARS" and "Colombia," a raid of gray drums following that follow increasingly descending horns. "This EP is an outline of life in different textures and energy," IIndman comments about La BellaVita. Speaking about his reason for playing electronica with Black African & Beautiful, the artist, also a graphic designer, recently explained, "...I think this was the best genre that could speak to me and give me a platform to express my art from within..." As La Bella Vita shows, IIndman can evoke melancholy with just beats, putting deep feeling into his own take on electronic music. Listen to La Bella Vita below and grab a free download of the EP.
