Here are the 16 Categories 'Black Panther' Is Campaigning for at the 2019 Oscars
Disney is going all in to get 'Black Panther' some Oscar nominations.
Disney really wants Black Panther to take home major awards at the upcoming Oscars and they're sparring no expense to make it happen.
Last month, the studio hired an official Oscar strategist and announced that it would be campaigning for a coveted 'Best Picture' nomination, despite the creation of the 'Best Popular Film' category, which was done away with last week after the Academy came to the realization that it was a really bad idea.
Now that Black Panther no longer runs the risk of being awarded a mere consolation prize based on its massive box office success, Disney has formally launched a page for its "For Your Consideration" campaign, consisting of 16 categories that the studio is making a play for.
The list consists of both major and technical categories, including Best Picture, a Best Director nomination for Ryan Coogler, a Best Actor nomination for Chadwick Boseman, Best Costume Design nomination for Ruth Carther, and a number of Best Supporting Actor nominations for members of its star-studded cast including Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira and Michael B. Jordan and Daniel Kaluuya.

If Black Panther were to take home these awards, it would mark several unprecedented wins for a film with an all black cast, and for its many African actors. It's clear that the studio is trying to make the most out of the film's undeniable cultural impact—a Marvel film has never won an Oscar, and Black Panther has the potential to change that.
