Deadline reports that British-South African actress Gugu Mbatha-Rawhas joined the cast of Loki, the Marvel series which is set to air on Disney+.

Mbatha-Raw jumps straight into the Marvel series not long after her role in Apple TV's The Morning Show starring Jennifer Aniston,Reese Witherspoon and several other high-profile actors.

Marvel's Loki will focus on the Asgardian trickster who has played a major role in the evolution of Marvel's so-called "movieverse". While the details of Mbatha-Raw's character have not yet been revealed, save that she'll be a female lead, the likes of TomHiddleston, OwenWilson and SophiaDiMartino are all set to be a part of the star-studded cast.

Filming of Loki is currently underway and the series is set to debut on Disney+ in 2021.

Mbatha-Raw had a spectacular year in 2019. Not only was she a part of the casts of several successful drama series, she also landed roles in significant titles including Misbehavior, a dramedy about the Miss World beauty pageant in the 70s, and Seacole, a historical film about pioneering Jamaican nurse Mary Seacole.
