'Get Out' Is the Most Nominated Film At This Year's MTV Movie and TV Awards
"Get Out' has received six MTV Movie and TV Awards nominations, other nominees include "Moonlight," "Insecure," and "Hidden Figures."
The nominees for the MTV Movie Awards, were announced last Thursday, and it's looking like everyone's favorite "socail thriller," Get Out is going to make a pretty big wave.
The Jordan Peele production leads the pack with six nominations, including both a "Best Actor" and "Next Generation" nod for Daniel Kaluuya, and a "Best Villain" nomination for Allison Williams. Lil Rel Howery earned a nomination for "Best Comedic Performance," and both him and Kaluuya are nominated in the "Best Duo" category. The film is also nominated for the "Best Fight Against the System" award (which honestly sounds like it was named by someone who works at Pepsi).
Some of our other favorites are up for awards as well. Atlanta and Insecureare nominated for Best Show of the Year, and our girl Issa Rae also received a nod for the "Next Generation" award. Barry Jenkin's Moonlight racked in four nominations.
The folks at MTV made some renovations to the program this year. For the first time ever, TV shows are in the running. They've also done away with gender-specific categories. Seems like they're making improvements, but let's hope they get it right when the show airs on May 7, by just giving all the awards to black folks.
